Every watch listed on GEN should provide you with the information you need to make an informed decision.

• Year of manufacture, where known

• Box and papers
• Service history, where applicable
• Accessories and additional items included
• Photographs and any disclosed imperfections

If something isn’t clear, don’t assume. Ask the dealer before purchasing.

A luxury watch can vary significantly in value depending on its condition, provenance, completeness and service history. Make sure you understand what is included with the watch before committing to the purchase.

Know Who You Are Buying From

GEN is designed to provide a marketplace where buyers can transact with established and verified dealers.

Dealers on GEN are required to meet our platform standards and provide the relevant information required to list and sell watches through the marketplace.

However, buyers should still take the time to review the individual dealer and listing carefully.

GEN provides the platform and the framework for a secure transaction, but the individual dealer remains responsible for the accuracy of their listing and the watch they are offering for sale.

Ask Questions

If you need additional information about a watch, contact the dealer through GEN before purchasing.

You may want to ask about:

• The watch’s condition
• Previous servicing
• Whether components have been replaced
• Originality of the dial, hands, bezel or bracelet
• Box and papers
• Warranty
• Ownership or provenance where relevant
• Any marks, scratches or imperfections not immediately visible in the photographs

Keeping communication through the GEN platform also helps maintain a clear record of the transaction.

Your Purchase

Once you have decided to purchase a watch, GEN is designed to keep the transaction secure and transparent.

Where applicable, our Buyer Protection Package provides an additional layer of protection during the transaction.

Payment is handled through our secure transaction process, with funds protected through escrow arrangements until the relevant conditions of the transaction have been met.

This helps provide confidence to both buyer and dealer while the watch is being prepared and delivered.

Delivery & Your Watch’s Journey

Luxury watches deserve more than ordinary delivery.

GEN requires participating dealers to follow our standards for secure preparation, packaging and delivery. Watches are sent using appropriate tracked and insured delivery arrangements in accordance with the requirements of the transaction.

Where a watch is shipped using the GENSeal™ system, it will arrive in secure, tamper-evident GENSeal™ packaging.

GENSeal™ forms part of our wider approach to protecting the integrity of the transaction and the watch while it is in transit.

When Your Watch Arrives

Take your time when your watch is delivered.

Before accepting the watch as complete, inspect:

Check the outer packaging and, where applicable, the GENSeal™ packaging for signs of damage or tampering.

The Watch

Compare the watch carefully with the original listing and photographs.

Check the:

• Reference and model
• Overall condition
• Dial, hands and bezel
• Case and bracelet
• Clasp and other components
• Accessories
• Box and documentation

The Documentation

Check that any papers, certificates, warranty cards or other documentation correspond with the watch and match the information provided in the listing.

If anything appears inconsistent, damaged or materially different from the listing, do not simply accept the transaction as complete. Contact GEN and the dealer through the platform first.

If Something Doesn’t Look Right

We understand that buying a luxury watch online requires confidence.

If your watch arrives and you believe there is an issue with its condition, authenticity, documentation, completeness or conformity with the listing, contact the dealer through GEN as soon as possible.

Keep all packaging, documentation and delivery materials until the matter has been resolved.

Where a transaction is covered by GEN’s Buyer Protection Package, the relevant protection and dispute process will apply.
